OMS Referral Scheme. (Help us, help the schools and nursery schools you love and help us provide an even better environment for your children)
In 1990, we set out to create schools and nurseries that provide a fully supportive interest-led and child-centred educational environment that allows them to realise their potential free from the stresses and strains of the mainstream education process.
We are absolutely delighted that we can achieve this goal while also enabling children to achieve excellent GCSE grades. The results from our second round of GCSEs are wonderful proof (see link) of this abilityand show that it is possible for children to join us at an early age in one of our nurseries and progress in the same supportive environment right through to GCSE level.
Thumbs up from Ofsted
The GCSE results are not the only proof of the quality of our schools. Iffley recently received an Ofsted inspection and I am delighted to report that we were ranked ‘good overall’ with some ‘outstanding’ elements. One such element is the way we are helping the children embrace another language from an early age. Many of you will have seen the coverage in the local newspaper – with the eye-catching title ‘Mummy I need a oui’ which highlighted the benefits of the excellent French tuition that is happening there. If you missed that article it is here.
Keeping us small but running at capacity
To give your children the kind of personal attention we believe they need and deserve means we need to keep our schools small. But this model only works if we run at full capacity in all of our schools. This way we can ensure that we can continue to invest in the services and facilities whilst maintaining the very special learning environment we have created.
One of our parent advisers summed this up succinctly with this comment: "Perhaps you could emphasise the collective benefit of making referrals and therefore having full schools, which is presumably that the fees are lower for all the kids and the quality of the facilities, curriculum and staff is higher."
To help us achieve this we have created a special referral scheme that rewards you for attracting new children that you know will benefit most from our approach.
We are not looking for big numbers. As a rough guide we are looking to attract about three children for each of our nurseries and for our primary and senior schools. Obviously these numbers are a moving target as children move up through the age groups and as they leave the area. What our recent GCSE results show is that children who stay at our schools right through to GCSE level can expect to achieve excellent results. Our special reducing fee structure (that sees our fees reduce as children move from nursery to primary and then to secondary education) is a further attraction to do so.
How does the scheme work?
Because you know us best, you will also know who will benefit most from our approach. Therefore we want to reward both you and the family that signs up to one of our schools/nurseries as a result of your introduction.
It is a simple scheme. We will:
- Give you a reward of £75 for the first child that you introduce – when they register a place. This reward can be taken as:
- A charity donation on your behalf
- Discount on extra curricula activities
- Discount on your school fees
- A cash refund (paid by cheque)
- Give the family who registers a reward of £75 by waiving the normal £75 registration fee
- Give you a reward of £150 (paid as above) for the second and each subsequent child that registers in the same calendar year as a result of your introductions
To qualify all you need to do is recommend us to a family you know and then complete the short referral form on our website. You can find the form by clicking here.
Some reasons to recommend us:
I thought you would like to see some feedback from parents that we received recently that reinforces our desire to keep our schools small and child centred.
“A teaching method that welcomes the child's individuality, freedom to express themselves, and one that nurtures a love of learning.”
“I think its a good school because it's small, has an ethos I believe in, tries hard to accommodate everyone in a friendly atmosphere, has an all rounded approach to education, and allows choice for the pupils. Encourages and motivates children to take part but allows the child freedom to opt out.”
“Lovely, gentle, tolerant environment, with accommodating teachers; great for kids who don't quite 'fit the box'.”
“The nursery provides a very caring and nurturing environment for my child. I like the mixed age group and small size of the class.”
“Small class sizes means each child can be individually encouraged and developed, difference is celebrated rather than stifled, the school is about being part of life rather than academia.”
“I love the ethos. My husband and I were immediately captivated by the love and sense of community that we found there. We have continued to be so impressed that this kindness was not just a first impression but has been consistently expressed by the care of the teachers and flexibility of the team to the changing needs and circumstances of the children and families.”
Many thanks for your continuing support.
